Amãna Bank records impressive win against 99x at MCA ‘G’ Division Cricket Tournament

Amãna Bank Cricket Team recorded an impressive win against 99x Technology at the Mercantile ‘ G’ Division Cricket Tournament held at Dharmapala College Grounds in Pannipitiya on 20 May 2023. The victory margin of 130 runs stands as the highest winning margin in the history of Amãna Bank, which coincidently came in the Bank’s 10th year of participation at the Mercantile Cricket Tournament.

Setting a commanding total of 244 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 25 overs, Amãna Bank’s Athif Moulana led the charge with a remarkable knock of 76, supported by Ramesh Fernando ( 45), Ershad Rashmishab ( 30), Waseem Sinnen ( 21), Kevin

Asoka (18) and Rikas Jawfer (14).

In response, 99x Technology battled hard but could only manage 114 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their allotted 25 overs. Amãna Bank’s bowlers displayed prowess and discipline, with Azher Samsoodeen (2/32) and Waseem Sinnen (2/22) taking crucial wickets to restrict the opposition. Overall, the team put up an impressive all- round performance in the match, where the batsmen posted a strong total, the bowlers took key wickets and the fielding was outstanding, which led them to a well-deserved victory. Athif Moulana was judged “Man of the Match” for his exceptional batting display.
