HRCSL files case over failure to enforce power cut pledge

The H u m a n Rights Commission of Sri Lanka has filed a case before the Supreme Court against the Power and Energy Ministry and Ceylon Electricity Board citing failure to enforce the pledge reached by all parties.

Power and Energy Ministry Secretary, CEB Chairman and the Attorney General have been cited as respondents.

“During a discussion held on 25 January, an agreement was reached by the Ministry, the CEB, the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka and the Ceylon Petroleum Corporat ion to re frain from imposing power cuts till 17 February considering the 2022 Advanced Level Examination that is currently underway,” issuing a statement, the HRCSL noted on Saturday.
