Winning start for Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka had a winning start on day 1 of the Asia oceanic Group IV tournament which got underway at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association (SLTA) clay courts in Colombo yesterday.

Sri Lanka defeated Bangladesh three to nothing in their opening encounter in group A.

Yasith de Silva and Harshana Godamanna won in their single events while Thehan Wijemanne and Chathurya Nilaweera doubled up and took Sri Lanka over the line with an easy 3/0 win in the end.

Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh 3/0

Iraq beat Maldives 3/0

Yemen beat Maldives 2/1

Sri Lanka will play Kyrgyzstan in their next encounter which will take place on 11 August.
