NDB continues partnership with Royal Rugby and Bradby Shield

As a responsible local bank with its roots in the community, NDB Bank continues its efforts to empower the development of sports by partnering with Royal Rugby as the main event sponsor. The Bank also signed up as this year’s official event partner for the Bradby Shield.

Commenting on this continued partnership, NDB CEO Dimantha Seneviratne said: “We look forward to continuing our partnership with Royal Rugby which was disrupted due to the pandemic,” adding: “NDB will continue to foster the development of sports amongst future generations to inculcate good values and discipline.” The partnership covers the entire schools’ season as well as the first leg of the Bradby shield.

Royal College will host the first leg of the 77th Bradby Shield Encounter played against Trinity College, Kandy. The school also won the Michael Gunaratne Trophy played against S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia a couple of weeks ago.

The Royal College 1st XV team has been performing well this season winning four of the five matches played, ending round one at the top of the points table, and qualifying to round two of the tournament. There is no doubt that the Bradby shield will be keenly contested this year.

The Bradby Shield Encounter – commonly known as “The Bradby” – is the blue ribbon of Sri Lanka’s school rugby union season. It is played annually between two schools in the country and traditional rivals Royal College, Colombo, and Trinity College, Kandy.
