Bank of Ceylon celebrates Vesak and Poson with series of religious events

The Bank of Ceylon’s Buddhist Association together with BOC staff organised a series of religious programs commemorating Vesak and Poson Poya Days.

‘ Muni Guna Waruna Bhakthi Gee’ a musical evening was held at the bank’s head office and a special program was held in Anuradhapura ‘ Ruwanwelli Maha Seya’ temple in celebration of the life of Lord Buddha who followed the way to attain enlightenment. These events organised by the bank’s Buddhist association are conducted by staff members and ex- staff members of the bank, are some of the much anticipated events.

Both events were graced by Harsha Wijewardhana a member of the Board of Directors and the General Manager K. E. D. Sumanasiri. Members of the corporate and the executive management and staff members were also among the spectators.

The special ceremony in Anuradhapura was held with the guidance of Chief Incumbent of Ruwanweli Seya Vihara and Chief Sanghanayaka Nuwarakalaviya Venerable Pallegama Hemarathana Thero with the participation of Anuradhapura Divisional Secretary J.M.J.K. Jayasundara as a Guest of Honour.

Apart from the ‘Bakthi Gee’ event, the staff of BOC Mihintale branch together with staff of the bank’s Anuradhapura Province organised the ‘ Dhana’ for devotees who observed ‘ Sil’ at the Mihintale temple. Further a ‘refreshing tea dansal’ was conducted at the Anuradhapura Jaya Sri Maha Bhodi Maluwa to devotees who came to worship on this day. These events were organised with the guidance of the Assistant General Manager North Central Province Mahinda Bandara. Deputy General Manager Branch Operations and Development Banking Priyal Silva and Assistant General Manager Marketing Ar una Hettiarachchi also participated in these events held in Anuradhapura representing the bank’s corporate and executive management.
